Discussing tomorrow’s meeting with VfB Stuttgart, Dino Toppmöller is keeping his options open for Frankfurt’s attacking third.
“We’ve seen [against Dortmund] that Younes [Ebnoutalib] and Arnaud [Kalimuendo] work very well together up front.
“Playing with both as a strike partnership is certainly an option. We also have Ansgar [Knauff] and Jean-Mattéo [Bahoya], who is now healthy again,” he added.
The Hessen club’s coach also gave an update on players returning from the African Cup of Nations and praised the rise of their opponents Stuttgart in recent seasons.
“Ellyes Skhiri will return to the squad tomorrow. Farès Chaibi will then travel with us again on Friday against Bremen.
“Stuttgart have done a fantastic job on many levels over the past few years. They are a well-oiled machine, and we need to keep several of their players under control.
We need a solid defensive performance as a team.” I expect a very hard-fought and intense match. Stuttgart combines footballing class with physicality.
“They defend well going forward; that’s how they won in Leverkusen. We need to prepare ourselves for a tough battle,” Toppmöller added.
