Toni Kroos and brother Felix have shared their criticism of The Best FIFA Awards.
The Kroos brothers, in their joint-podcast ‘Einfach mal Luppen’, discussed the different winners at the recent The Best FIFA Awards, held in Paris.
As reported by AS, whilst Toni understood that Lionel Messi’s World Cup triumph played a big role in him winning The Best Men’s Footballer, Felix did not agree, saying that Karim Benzema was a far more deserving winner. Felix suggested that Messi had not been outstanding enough for the whole year to deserve the award over the Frenchman.
Younger brother Felix launched a particularly scathing attack on the awards, calling it a “joke” whilst vehemently disagreeing with Emiliano Martínez being named The Best Goalkeeper ahead of Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois.
Toni seemed to be on the same page here, stating, “That’s why people looked in vain for Real Madrid at the gala.”
None of Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois and Carlo Ancelotti won their respective awards, and as such, no Real Madrid player attended the ceremony.
