Speaking at his unveiling, sporting director Florian Maurice outlined OGC Nice’s plans for the current transfer window, whilst the futures of Jean-Clair Todibo and Khéphren Thuram.

Maurice was unveiled alongside new manager Franck Haise on Friday in what marks a new chapter for Nice. With the managerial positions now filled, attention now turns to on-field recruits. Given the difference in play style between former manager Francesco Farioli and new manager Haise, there will be a recruitment, driven by the needs of the latter with profiles that match his play style sought.

“The idea is to improve the team so that it performs better. We have identified targets,” began Maurice in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News. “I won’t give you any names today but the system will evolve because Franck played a system at Lens that he wants to put in place here. We’ll add four or five players, depending on the opportunities and we’ll adjust depending on departures.”

Both Todibo, whose move to Manchester United looks to have collapsed, and Thuram, who is heavily linked with a move to Juventus, will be allowed to leave the club, Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivère revealed. “The doors are open but a transfer window is always complicated. Today, the door is open for these players (Thuram and Todibo). Will they be here at the start of the season? We’ll know at the end [of the window],” said Rivère.

The broad strokes of Nice’s transfer window have therefore been defined. Whilst some key players will likely depart, the club will also be busy securing new recruits.
