Timo Werner’s proposed move to the New York Red Bulls appears to have collapsed.

Around a week ago, reports emerged that wantaway RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner was close to a move to the New York Red Bulls.

However, according to Leipziger Volkszeitung, it now appears the transfer will not happen after all.

The report suggests that the player and club are so far apart on salary demands that a deal is off the table.

Werner was reportedly offered a two-year deal worth €5 million per season, but the striker demanded €10 million per year instead – way too much for the New York Red Bulls.

The German forward spent last season on loan at Tottenham and has one year left on his contract with RB Leipzig.
