Thomas Tuchel wanted by two European giants before accepting Bayern Munich job

Bayern Munich are reportedly on the verge of appointing Thomas Tuchel as the new manager after shockingly deciding to sack Julian Nagelsmann.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Tuchel has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2025.

It will be the German gaffer’s first job since he was sacked by Chelsea last September.

Fabrizio Romano, who broke the news first, has revealed that Tuchels’ name was on the wishlist of Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid until last night.

Tottenham had identified Tuchel as one of the leading candidates to take over from Antonio Conte, whose job continues to be in jeopardy following his tirade at his own players and Spurs hierarchy after the draw against Southampton.

Ruben Amorim, Oliver Glasner, Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino are on the radar of the Lilywhites over the head coach role.

Elsewhere in Spain, Madrid had considered Tuchel a potential replacement for Caro Ancelotti should the Italian gaffer leave in the summer.

Ancelotti has been heavily linked with a move to the Brazilian national team over the vacant managerial position, and the players of La Selecao have been publicising their desire of late.

In addition, there were rumours of Tuchel’s return to Paris Saint-Germain, who have reportedly decided to expel current head coach Christophe Galtier in the wake of the Champions League exit from the round of 16 against Bayern.

Madrid might turn their attention towards Nagelsmann, whose name is also high on their wishlist.

Bayern have chosen Tuchel as the ideal manager to lead in the place of Nagelsmann after reportedly being impressed by his ideas and also believe the former Chelsea boss could help the club recover from their brief rough patch in Bundesliga.

Tuchel’s first game in charge will be Der Klassiker against his former club Borussia Dortmund, who are at the top of the league table, a point ahead of Bayern.
