Thomas Tuchel has been sent a warning ahead of the 2022/23 campaign following Todd Boehly’s £4.25billion takeover of Chelsea.
The Blues face an important transfer window ahead of next season having already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, with Romelu Lukaku’s future in doubt as well. Tuchel dealt with a tricky final few months of the season on and off the pitch and now is preparing to rebuild his squad before next season.
Chelsea struggled to replicate the form they showed in the first half of the season towards the back end of the 2021/22 campaign, but finished the season winning the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Jules Kounde, Ousmane Dembele and Milan Skriniar have all been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge this summer but Tuchel has been warned that if he gets similar results next season as he did last year, he may find himself out of a job.

ESPN pundit Craig Burley believes Tuchel is in massive trouble if he doesn’t get better results when the 2022/23 season starts in August. The Todd Boehly era has arrived at the Bridge and Blues fans are keen to see how much it differs from the previous regime under Roman Abramovich, especially when it comes to how the manager position is dealt with.
Burley suggested that Chelsea’s manager is under big pressure. The ESPN pundit said: “Thomas Tuchel is going to be screwed next year if he gets the same results.
“If they’re 20 points behind in the league, out of the cup competitions and other teams are having lots of success, this new ownership are going to have to make a stand. Show the fans they mean business.”
Burley also commented on how the future of Lukaku will affect the club moving forward if the Belgian’s situation is not sorted this summer. Burley said: “It’s problematic for the club, Thomas Tuchel, for the team, not so much Lukaku because he’s getting paid a gazillion dollars and he’ll find his way.
“For Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea as a club, baring in mind what Liverpool are doing in the market and what Manchester City are doing in the market already with their squad, Chelsea will have to pull their finger out and figure it out. Otherwise, they’ll be in a similar situation next year.”
