Thomas Meunier has sustained an injury during Borussia Dortmund training and has been pictured in crutches, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
Just as BVB were celebrating some players’ returns from long injuries there is yet another person on the medical table. After training at their camp in Marbella, Spain, Meunier suffered a hamstring injury.
It is unclear how serious the injury is or for how long the full-back will be out of action. When it comes to the full-back position head coach Edin Terzić has limited options.
Earlier in the campaign, Niklas Süle moved over from his usual central position and helped out. We also saw him do this at the 2022 World Cup for Germany with rather limited success. Other possible stop-gaps include Marius Wolf, Felix Passlack and Thorgan Hazard.
With a crucial second half of the season coming up for BVB, they can’t afford any slip-ups. Such an injury could force Terzić into the transfer market for more reassurance.
