Thijs Dalinga hints to summer move away from Toulouse

Thijs Dalinga (23) speaking to RMC Sport has hinted that he could look for a summer move away from Toulouse FC after the club failed to secure European football.

A difficult transition when Dalinga moved to Toulouse from Excelsior Rotterdam in 2022 has given way to a highly promising player. He began to find his feet at the end of last season, even scoring twice in the Coupe de France final. Since then he has grown into his role for this season’s campaign as the club’s starting striker.

15 goals across all competitions have been a solid return from the forward, while his performances in the Europa League even saw the Dutch striker called up to the selection in November for the games against Ireland and Gibraltar.

‘After the season, we’ll have to think about it’ – Thijs Dalinga

Obviously, scoring goals in the Europa League helped me get to the national team.” The forward explained to RMC Sport, “The Europa League matches are the most watched and most interesting for [the national side]. Clearly, it helped me.

However, there was no return for Dalinga during this international break, and with Toulouse now out of Europe, he will have to hope his performances in Ligue 1 can do enough to return him to the squad ahead of this summer’s EUROS.

It’s clear that the club will not be back in Europe next season, and this leaves the future of their striker somewhat in the air. “Today Ligue 1 is a good level for me. The Europa League allowed me to show my qualities on the European scene. After the season, we’ll have to think about it and think about what will happen in the future.”
