In the final game of matchday 25, Heidenheim secured a point with a strong second-half performance in Hoffenheim. In the post-match interviews, both coaches admitted the result was a fair reflection of what happened on the pitch.
“The draw hurts today. We dropped two points, even if the result was fair in terms of performance,” said Christian Ilzer. “Before the 1-1, we had real problems. But, in the end, we even had the chance to win. Heidenheim believed in themselves after the equalizer, which caused us problems.”
For Frank Schmidt, the reaction his team showed after the break was very promising. “For me, it was two different halves,” Schmidt started his assessment of the match. “I thought it was a balanced game in the first-half, but we made a mistake. After the break, we showed a great reaction.
“We had many chances and should have scored more goals. We have to show something like that over two halves, if we want to win in the Bundesliga. In general, we can be happy with the point and the performance.”
