According to a recent report from football.london, Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard has confirmed his stay at Santiago Bernabeu for the next season. It has also been mentioned that the Belgian forward was rumoured for a summer transfer which could have been a dramatic Premier League return to his former team Chelsea, but any hope of that happening has now vanished.
Hazard’s Campaign At Real Madrid This Season
The 31-year-old has just appeared in 21 games this season, scoring 2 goals and providing one assist. It has been a disappointing campaign for Hazard where Los Blancos managed to win the La Liga title and the Champions League silverware this season.
The Belgian star has failed to perform as he is averaging 0.7 shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in the La Liga.
However, he has managed to distribute the ball exceptionally well, making 90.2% of his attempted passes in Spanish top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Does Hazard Still Have It In Him To Perform At A High Level?
Eden Hazard is a prolific winger and has proven to be an offensive threat at the highest level, but with his consecutive poor performances in the past two years, some fans believe that the forward does not have what it takes to perform at a high level.
A series of poor performances has seen his value plummet to the bottom. However, at 31, the former Chelsea star still has a few years left in him and could hope to bounce back from his slump.
If he moves forward with caution and does not fall victim to injuries, we could see impressive numbers in Hazard’s next campaign. He can still make some decent runs behind the opposition to set himself up in front of the goal converting opportunities with his world class finishing. The Belgian could also contribute by setting up his teammates with his vision from the wide areas and impressive passing ability.
As Real Madrid brought home the Champions League Trophy in their dramatic win over Liverpool, Hazard got the chance to address the crowd, “These have been three difficu”t years but next year I will give everything for you guys. I’m sure that next year will bI’mine, I’ve no doubts.”
The Belgium international will hopefully live up to his own expectations in the next season helping Los Blancos defend their titles both in the La Liga and the Champions League.
