Bild reports that the DFB and Julian Nagelsmann are already in talks over another extension of the head coach’s contract.
Nagelsmann only extended his deal as Germany’s head coach until just after the 2026 World Cup before EURO 2024, but after the success of the home tournament as well as the performances following their quarter-final exit, the DFB want to extend his contract again.
The idea is to extend the contract of Nagelsmann beyond the 2028 EUROs which will be hosted in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The head coach himself is not against the idea of staying on until 2028.
Since taking over just over a year ago, Nagelsmann has made Germany play attractive-attacking football once again, and has gotten the best out of Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, whilst also allowing the public to fall in love again with the national team after years of a strained relationship.
The transformation under Nagelsmann also means that Germany can be considered one of the early favourites for the World Cup in 18 months time.
