West Ham United have been warned about possibly hiring Jose Mourinho as a replacement for the struggling Julen Lopetegui.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Andy Goldstein suggested that Mourinho, currently at Fenerbahce, could be a realistic candidate for the Hammers, though he also believed the club could “implode” with him in charge.
The Portuguese tactician may be a serial winner, having enjoyed success almost everywhere he’s been, but he’s also missed out on some top jobs in recent times as he can often be too fiery a character.

See below as Goldstein and Darren Bent discuss the West Ham situation after Lopetegui’s awful start since taking over at the London Stadium in the summer…
Goldstein said: “Do you know Jose would take that, wouldn’t he? You don’t want Jose at your club West Ham fans let me tell you now – the club will implode.”
Who should be next West Ham manager?
Lopetegui clearly looks like the wrong appointment by West Ham, so it seems likely we’ll see a change soon, even if it doesn’t exactly seem like the Spaniard’s sacking is imminent.
Mourinho could be interesting from a neutral’s perspective, as he’s so often great entertainment for his outspoken manner, but Goldstein is probably right that he’s not the man West Ham need right now.
Most WHUFC supporters will surely now be feeling that replacing David Moyes in the summer was just plainly the wrong call.
Things weren’t necessarily perfect under the Scottish tactician, but he did deliver silverware to the club in 2022/23 with that memorable Europa Conference League final win over Fiorentina.
And although Lopetegui looked like he could be an upgrade, it just hasn’t worked out that way at all, showing that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
