The 4 countries that left Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal out of Ballon d’Or top-10

The identities of the quartet of countries whose representative journalists omitted Barcelona star Lamine Yamal from their top-10 placed players for the Ballon d’Or have been revealed.

The 2026 ‘Golden Ball’ gala of course took place in London earlier this week, with Bayern Munich standout Harry Kane ultimately crowned world football’s best.

The aforementioned Lamine was considered to be amongst the very frontrunners for the prize in the buildup to the ceremony, following a spectacular 12 months for club and country alike.

When all was said and done, though, the 19-year-old was forced to make do with a place in 3rd in the Ballon d’Or standings.

And as alluded to above, this weekend, the nationalities of some of the countries that cost Lamine the most points have been confirmed. As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Greece, Cameroon, Croatia and Belarus journalists excluded Lamine Yamal from Ballon d’Or top 10.’
