Fabrizio Romano reports that Nottingham Forest have completed the paperwork with Union Berlin for Taiwo Awoniyi. The Bundesliga side will receive €20m after the newly-promoted Premier League side triggered Awoniyi’s €20m exit clause.
Sky Sports add further that Awoniyi is currently undergoing a medical. Signed from Liverpool on a permanent basis last summer, the Premier League side will also receive 10% of the transfer fee.
The 24-year-old scored 20 and created five in 43 games in all competitions for Union Berlin last season.
Awoniyi has always been open about his dream of playing in the Premier League, telling Kicker in February: “The Premier League is my dream. Everyone knows that, including here at the club. If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child. Also my sister and a brother live on the island.”
Nottingham Forest are also in negotiations to sign Mainz defender Moussa Niakhaté after seeing their opening offer rejected whilst they’ve also shown an interest in signing Orel Mangala from Stuttgart.
