Jonathan Tah believes Bayer Leverkusen’s defensive solidity laid the foundation for their 3-0 win over Bayern Munich.
“The coach says it all the time: the better we defend, the better we attack,” the Bayer Leverkusen centre-back said in a post-match interview.
“The whole team defended well today. I think that’s why we made it look so easy.”
The win caps an intense and successful week for Leverkusen, who also picked up an important win on Tuesday, beating VfB Stuttgart 3-2 in the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal.
“It was the most emotional week of the season so far, but also the most exhausting. The win is great, it was a top match. We felt how much respect they had for us. That gave us courage. But there are still a lot of games to play,” Tah told Sky Germany.
