After rejecting an opening offer from Rennes for Anthony Rouault, the Stuttgart defender will now join the Ligue 1 side for a reported €15m, according to Sky Germany.
The Frenchman joined Stuttgart on loan from Toulouse in 2023 which was made permanent for €3m last summer. However, Sky report that with the contracts not yet signed, the deal could yet fall through as VfB hope to sign a replacement before tomorrow’s deadline. But the Swabian club are currently working on that option, and only then Rouault will be allowed to leave.
Rouault established himself as a key player Sebastian Hoeneß in the player’s first year in Germany, playing 22 Bundesliga games, while the French defender has been a mainstay in defence this season, playing 18 consecutive games in the league.
Stuttgart have had problems with injuries in defensive positions this season, and so signing a replacement for Rouault is imperative before allowing the central-defender to leave.
