Germany’s preeminent footballing publication reports that VfB Stuttgart are preparing to sign 21-year-old Swiss international Leonidas Stergiou.
Additional help for the VfB Stuttgart defensive corps is on the way, according to Germany’s Kicker Magazine. The Bundesrepublik’s preeminent footballing publication reports that 21-year-old central defender Leonidas Stergiou is preparing to move to the Württemberg capital. The FC St. Gallen center back captained the Swiss U21 side and has been capped one for his country at senior level.
Kicker offers no information at present as to the nature of the transfer. The youngster maintains and estimated market worth of €3 million in the latest transfermarkt listings and remains under contract with his Swiss side through the end of the season. The fact that Stergiou sits on an expiring contract strongly suggests that Stuttgart will be purchasing him rather than taking him on loan.
Stuttgart began the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign with a 5-0 rout of VfL Bochum earlier today. Dan-Axel Zagadou and newly anointed captain Waldemar Anton handled the clean sheet in central defense.
