Stuttgart announced several huge additions on Sunday with former stars Philipp Lahm, Sami Khedira and Christian Gentner set to join the club in management positions. These newcomers are not directly connected to Sporting Director Sven Mislintat, but with all these changes at the top, Bild reports it’s now unclear whether Stuttgart will extend his expiring contract.
One thing is clear. After narrowly escaping relegation on the final day last season, Stuttgart realize they must make major changes across the club in order to prevent another close call. While many supporters would be sad to see Mislintat go, it’s reported he can be a demanding character at times.
Mislintat is a boisterous presence on Stuttgart’s bench and has never shied away from a yellow card. The 49-year-old previously worked at Arsenal and Dortmund before joining Stuttgart in 2019.
