Stuttgart agree personal terms with St. Pauli defender

Per news site Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Stuttgart are in talks to add center-back Jakov Medić to their squad.

Pellegrino Matarazzo.

St. Pauli star Jakov Medić could be off to the first division, as Stuttgart look to strengthen their defensive options. However, Stuttgart are running into problems with the 2. Bundesliga club. St. Pauli rejected an offer back in May for more than €2 million, as Stuttgart are now gearing up to improve their offer.

Medić is a physical central defender, a major threat in the air and is seen as one of the best defenders in the second division. He even scored 2 goals in St. Pauli’s 4-3 DFB-Pokal win this past weekend.

Medić has also played for Wehen Wiesbaden and Nürnberg in Germany before his move to St. Pauli last year. Stuttgart must improve after last season’s dramatic escape, but luckily have some cash to play with after the sale of Orel Mangala to Nottingham Forest.

Medić’s contract expires in 2024.
