Much to the frustration of Gladbach coach Daniel Farke, Lars Stindl has picked up an injury that will keep him out of his side’s Bundesliga opener this weekend.

Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered an injury blow in their 9-1 DFB-Pokal win over fifth-tier side Oberachern as club captain Lars Stindl was forced off in the second half after setting up three goals and scoring once.
As a result of the injury, the 33-year-old will definitely not be able to feature when Gladbach begin their Bundesliga campaign against Hoffenheim this Saturday.
“It looks like a muscle fiber tear, but we have to wait for the MRI,” Gladbach coach Daniel Farke told reporters after the game.
“He will certainly miss one or two competitive games. This is not good news at all because he put in a fantastic performance today and had a very good pre-season. He is our captain and a very important player.”
