According to Kicker, Stefan Ortega will leave Arminia Bielefeld and join Manchester City this summer.
It’s reported that the 29-year-old will become the English champions’ number two behind Ederson.
Ortega has been one of Bielefeld’s top performers in recent seasons despite facing relegation to the 2. Bundesliga in the last campaign.
The German keeper is not only known for his shot-stopping skills but also the ability to play out from the back. This is something that City coach Pep Guardiola often looks for in his goalkeepers.
It’s also reported that the transfer could take place and be announced as early as the end of this week.
Ortega has played over 180 competitive games for his hometown club, 67 of which came in the German top flight.
What makes the signing even better for City is that they’re getting a highly-rated goalkeeper on a free transfer as Ortega’s contract is due to run out.
