St. Louis City SC interested in signing Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino is on the radar of St. Louis City SC, reports MLS Insider Tom Bogert.

The Brazil international is leaving the Premier League club at the end of the campaign after eight seasons.

Firmino will not be short of suitors when he becomes a free agent, and the MLS club are keen.

The Missouri-based club was founded in 2019 and joined the Western Conference this year.

St. Louis City sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel knows Firmino from their time together at Hoffenheim.

The German was the Bundesliga club’s head of international relations and scouting.

Pfannenstiel made the German club sign the 31-year-old and would look to reunite with him.

St. Louis City have started their inaugural MLS campaign with a bang, with two wins in as many games.

Adding a player in the mould of Firmino would further improve their squad.

The Brazilian has 108 goals for Liverpool since joining them in 2015.

He has helped them win the Champions League, the Premier League and FA Cup.

St. Louis City need such a proven winner within their ranks. Firmino brings loads of experience and quality to the table.

Liverpool would have loved to hold on to him, but he craves a new challenge.

However, whether he would be open to leaving Europe for Major League Soccer this year remains to be seen.

A couple of top-flight clubs across the continent are keeping tabs on Firmino.

He would fancy his chances of proving himself at another top club in Europe.

However, STL will hope to win the battle for his services.
