Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid reports that Gladbach starting keeper and newly anointed captain Jonas Omlin has undergone surgery to address persistent shoulder problems and will probably be out for months. The tabloid reported the news late yesterday evening. Official confirmation from the club is still lacking.
BMG trainer Gerardo Seoane has three other keepers on his roster. Veteran net-minder Tobias Sippel committed some notable errors in seven league and Pokal outings last season. Twenty-one-year-old Jan Olschowsky has four league appearances under his belt.
Twenty-five-year-old Moritz Nicolas recently returned from a loan stint in Holland in which he accrued a great deal of playing experience in the Dutch second division. It might be the case that Nicolas will start this weekend against Bayern.
