Sofyan Amrabat’s agent confirms summer exit plans as midfielder dreams of Barcelona move

Fiorentina will listen to the offers for their talisman midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this summer, reveals his agent Mohamed Sinouh.

The 26-year-old has become a much more prominent figure after leading Morocco to the semi-finals of the World Cup last year.

After growing in stature, he also wanted to leave La Viola in the winter as he declined a contract extension offer.

Amrabat received multiple offers, but he had his heart set on Barcelona, who made a loan approach on the deadline day of the January transfer window.

However, much to his disappointment, Fiorentina turned down Blaugrana’s offer and insisted the midfielder was not for sale.

But La Viola might have to reconsider their stance this summer as his contract expires in the summer of 2024.

They will be keen to cash in on him this summer instead of losing him for free at the end of his contract.

“For now we don’t have any offer for the summer, but now at least Fiorentina is willing to listen,” said Amrabat’s agent (h/t Sport)

“It’s a promise they made when the president rejected all the offers in winter.”

Sinouh also revealed that Manchester United enquired about Amrabat earlier this year while it was La Viola’s president that prevented the Moroccan international from joining Barcelona.

“We received many offers during the January transfer window, including one from Manchester United, but an agreement cannot be reached,” Sinouh added.

“Barça? The president of Fiorentina refused to let him out because he represented a safe value after the role he had played in the World Cup.”

The report also adds that Amrabat still dreams of playing for Barca, who, however, are not in a great position financially to afford his signing.

Fiorentina could ask for around €40 million, while the Catalan giants are still unclear over their budget for the summer transfer window as they have been held back by La Liga’s FFP regulations.

Barca’s fellow rivals Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on Amrabat’s situation as Diego Simeone is said to be an admirer of his style of play.

Amrabat has been instrumental in La Viola’s stellar run over the last couple of months, having gone unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions.
