Joaquin Buckley has no chill.
The American MMA welterweight, 31, is renowned for his Knockout of the Year contender over Impa Kasanganay, whom he struck with a spinning back kick during one of the UFC’s Fight Island festivals in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. Since then, he’s fought 14 times, sharing the Octagon with the likes of Nassourdine Imavov (loss), Chris Curtis (loss), Stephen Thompson (win), Colby Covington (win), and Kamaru Usman (win).
And, though he’s not fought in almost a year, he seems to be picking fights outside the sport, targeting Shakur Stevenson — one of the world’s very best boxers. It was not long before Stevenson and his mentor, Terence Crawford, responded.

Joaquin Buckley And Terence Crawford go Back And Forth
It all started this week when Buckley said “you boxers are so disrespectful towards us athletes.”
Through social media, he said: “Shakur, I’m on you. Even though you beat Teofimo [Lopez] and all the trash he was talking, yeah, you beat him, but you should have knocked his ass out cold. But you were worried about your little record because you don’t want to get embarrassed. You blame it on, ‘Oh, it’s the art of boxing,’ or ‘I just wanted to show my jab all night’.”
“With that being said, stop disrespecting us. We are way more entertaining than y’all. It just is what it is.”
Buckley continued: “When we watch you guys fight, it’s predictable who is going to win. In the UFC, you don’t know who is going to win. How are you the real fighters?
“If we came outside where I am right now, I could kill you. I’m not saying I want to kill you or want to take you off this earth, but realistically, I would kill you if we fought.”
Naturally, the boxers issued their own statements.
“Who’s even fighting in the streets anymore? Talking about who he can kill in the streets,” said Crawford. “He must of forgot they make switches for them kind of tough guys.”
Stevenson then responded with five laughing emojis.
It is unclear if that’s the end of it, or if Buckley will poke the bear further.
