Sevilla star Gonzalo Montiel has this week been afforded his latest call-up on the international front.
This comes amid confirmation that the defender will be part of the Argentina squad primed to face off against Paraguay and Peru in a World Cup qualifying double-header this month.
Not only that, but it goes to highlight once more Lionel Scaloni’s absolutely unrelenting faith in Montiel’s talents.
The 27-year-old is for his part in the midst of a hugely underwhelming campaign at club level to date.
After being deemed surplus to requirements by new Sevilla headmaster García Pimienta over the summer, Montiel has since been afforded a paltry total of 12 minutes of playing time.
As much, as per Mundo Deportivo, was spread across one minute against each of Getafe and Real Valladolid, and a further nine en route to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Barcelona.
Such woes, though, have not shaken the belief of Argentina boss Scaloni in Montiel’s talents, with the right-back set to battle it out with Nahuel Molina for a place in the Albiceleste’s backline over the weeks ahead.
