Sevilla star Jesús Navas on Monday etched his name ever further into the history books of Spanish football.
As much comes owing to his appearance in Sevilla’s La Liga meeting with RCD Mallorca.
Quique’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Mallorca to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, with sights set on a third La Liga victory on the trot.
And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the Nervionenses managed.
As much came courtesy of a 2-1 result, owing to 2nd-half goals on the part of attacking pair Youssef En-Nesyri, and Isaac Romero.
The aforementioned Navas, meanwhile, was afforded his latest starting berth, in his customary role on the right flank.
And, in the process, the former Manchester City man secured for himself a special piece of history.
As revealed by statistician Fran Martinez of Relevo:
‘Jesús Navas today becomes the FIRST player in ALL OF HISTORY to be a starter 600 times in an Andalusian team. He has achieved it with Sevilla.’
