Sevilla sporting director Monchi arrived in Budapest on Tuesday afternoon. The Europa League final was dedicated to PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico, who suffered a serious injury in Spain on Sunday, and to Nemanja Gudelj, who has had a difficult time recently.
“It’s a tremendous blow for Sergio, he’s one of our own, one of those who has grown up at the club. I hope we can dedicate it to him, and also to Nema (Gudelj), who has had a difficult few days,” Monchi said.
“We have many reasons to win the Europa League and in the last few days, unfortunately, we have a few more,” he continued in words picked up by Spanish outlet Relevo.
He added: “It’s a day we’ve been waiting for, we’re looking forward to it. We’re very excited and looking forward to it, with the intention of giving our all, so that the team can win their seventh Europa League.”
On Mourinho
“Mourinho is trying to take the pressure off himself and pass it on to us. He has veteran and experienced players, Belotti, Dybala… it’s a way of putting the pressure on Sevilla.”
