Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos has responded to online criticism aimed in his direction.
For those not aware, defender Ramos was the target of something of a backlash on the part of fans of former club Real Madrid on Friday.
This came after footage came to the fore on social media, of the Spaniard refusing to sign a Blancos jersey presented to him by a supporter:
A whole host of theories were subsequently pushed on X, with some having suggested that Ramos may still be smarting from his final round of contract negotiations with Real Madrid failing to bear fruit.
The truth, however, is in fact altogether more simple.
Responding to the video in question courtesy of his official X account, the 37-year-old revealed that his refusal to sign the shirt came after he had already autographed several other Blancos jerseys.
Not only that, but Ramos harbours concerns over the possibility of the articles of clothing now boasting his signature being auctioned online:
‘Before that moment I had already signed about 6 @realmadrid shirts. And then there are people who auction them or sell them on the Internet…’
