According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Sérgio Conceição is planning on leaving Porto to take up the role of Olympique de Marseille’s next manager.
Marseille have been preparing for a rejection from their prime target, Lille OSC’s Paulo Fonseca who will soon be out of contract but is thought to be more interested in a move to AC Milan over the South of France.
Marseille prepared for Paulo Fonseca’s rejection with Sérgio Conceição
This has always been the risk with Fonseca and the club have made sure to prepare alternatives in case the Portuguese manager went with a return back to Serie A (a league he once managed in with AS Roma.)
The Marseille president Pablo Longoria met with Conceição ahead of the final game of the season, and while there have been some rumours of difficulties in convincing Conceição to make the swap, it now appears as if an agreement between the two sides could be progressing.
