Sékou Koné set to join Manchester United tomorrow

According to a report by L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi, Sékou Koné (18) is set to join Manchester United tomorrow from Malian side Guidars FC.

The Athletic had previously reported that the club are going to prepare the midfielder for the cultural change in moving from his home country by slowly allowing the player to settle and find his feet.

Koné is considered a highly talented player and the priority in the short term is to bed him into the u21s where he will be allowed to grow and develop. In the long term, the club hope that he will be a future pick as the team’s defensive midfielder.

United have begun to implement a new direction under minority owner Jim Ratcliffe. The team have become more focused on bringing in young talent with high ceilings for growth over more famous names. This was partly the thinking behind bringing in Leny Yoro (18) from Lille OSC this summer.
