After starting his first game this season for 1. FC Köln in the DFB Pokal on Tuesday, Marvin Schwäbe has been made number one again for Köln’s game against Hertha Berlin on Saturday by coach Gerhard Struber.
Jonas Ürbig, the previous first-choice has lost his place as the number one goalkeeper for Köln for the 2. Bundesliga game against Hertha BSC (Sky Germany).
Köln boss Gerhard Struber has reportedly shared this decision with both players ahead of the game tomorrow.
Previously, Jonas Ürbig was first choice for Struber and he has started every 2. Bundesliga game so far this season.
In the second round of the cup this week, Marvin Schwäbe oversaw a 3-0 win and therefore clean sheet against Holstein Kiel on Tuesday in the DfB-Pokal.
This was only Köln’s third clean sheet this season, and their second highest margin of victory so far under their current manager.
In keeping the clean sheet, he has regained the number one position for the second time whilst being goalkeeper at 1. FC Köln. The first of these was in 2021 when then-goalkeeper Timo Horn was injured.
