Wolfsburg midfielder Xaver Schlager is being touted as a possible replacement for Konrad Laimer at RB Leipzig.

Both Bild and Sky Germany report that Leipzig have held talks over the possible signing of the Austrian international.

Schlager could fill the void that Konrad Laimer would leave, should he depart the club this summer amid links to Bayern München.

The 24-year-old Wolfsbrug midfielder has a €40 million release clause in his deal. However, with just one year remaining on his contract, he’s likely to leave for a lower fee.
