After it was reported that his transfer to the MLS was close to completion, Moussa Sylla looks set to stay at FC Schalke 04 after all.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reported around midnight that the 26-year-old’s move to New York City FC has collapsed.
Negotiations had been dragging on for days and everything had actually been agreed upon, with the terms and conditions set.
A transfer fee of up to €7million was expected after the Malian’s medical examination had also been completed.
However, since Sunday evening, New York has wanted to renegotiate the terms which have apparently lead to the deal being struck out.
Sylla has since taken to social media platform Instagram writing: “Schalke fans you are crazy. I’m coming home. MS”.
However, Schalke confirmed two more additions to their squad in a busy January transfer window for the promotion hopefuls.
