Schalke will receive a reported €10m from Milan for Malick Thiaw and with just hours remaining in the transfer window, S04 will enter the market to sign a replacement, according to Kicker.
Thiaw travelled to Lombardy on Sunday and will undergo a medical before finalising a move to Italian side Milan, whose initial interest in signing the German youth international was known as early as June.
Upon Thiaw’s transfer to Milan, Schalke sporting director Rouven Schröder is working on signing a replacement. No names have been mentioned but it’s important that they’re able to play an immediate role at the Bundesliga club, following their 6-1 defeat against Union Berlin on Saturday.
Joining Schalke from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2015, the now 21-year-old has made his way through S04’s youth teams and missed just three 2. Bundesliga games last season. On the bench for the opening fixture in the Bundesliga this season, the central-defender has since played three consecutive 90 minutes.
