The Royal Blues have tied the German goalkeeper down to a long term deal.
Experienced shot-stopper Loris Karius will continue to stand between the posts for Schalke 04 next season.
The second division club has announced an extension with the 31-year-old goalkeeper, who signed a contract in Gelsenkirchen until 2027.
“The discussions with Loris were very good, and we are therefore happy that we were able to agree on a contract extension.
“We see Loris as a goalkeeper with excellent skills who is also a valuable team player. We are all the more excited to continue on this path together,” said director of professional football Youri Mulder.
In addition, Mulder said Karius should resume training soon: “Loris has worked very professionally during his rehab to be able to return to the training ground at the start of the preparation.”
