Malick Thiaw has attracted interest from Italy, admits Schalke 04 boss Rouven Schröder. AC Milan, Torino and Bologna are said to be keen on the 20-year-old centre-back.

Schalke 04 sporting director Rouven Schröder has confirmed that Malick Thiaw has attracted interest from the Italian Serie A.

“Overall, there is a lot of interest from the Serie A,” Schröder confirmed in an interview with Sport Bild.

“He is a top central defender, still has a long-term contract and fits into our team very well, of course. But he knows my phone number, should a club show interest.”

“No. But AC Milan came knocking for him six months ago, so of course we’re talking about a certain category.”

According to Bild, AC Milan, Torino and Bologna have shown interest in 20-year-old Thiaw, with around €8 million thought to be enough to prize him away from Schalke.
