Samuel Luckhurst Slams Manuel Ugarte During Aston Villa vs Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte was slammed by journalist Samuel Luckhurst for a ‘scandalous’ mistake, suggesting that it’s something that’s happened on multiple occasions during his time at Old Trafford.

Ugarte has struggled to break into the United side this season, with Ruben Amorim regularly opting for a pairing of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the middle of the park. Casemiro was booked in United’s previous game, meaning he was unavailable for the trip to Villa Park, and with Kobbie Mainoo suffering an injury, Ugarte lined up in the midfield.

Ugarte has been regularly criticised for his ability with the ball at his feet, and with Amorim’s side looking to play through midfield regularly, he’s come unstuck for the Red Devils.

Journalist Luckhurst took to X early on in the game against Aston Villa, criticising Ugarte for his role in gifting Unai Emery’s side an opportunity. The Uruguayan midfielder regularly turns ‘attack into defence’, claims Luckhurst, and it’s a mistake that happens all too often from the United star.

Amorim had little choice but to play Ugarte against Villa, and it’s likely to be a similar story going forward, with Bruno Fernandes picking up an injury in the first half. Mainoo is also on the treatment table at the moment, so it’s looking like United fans and Luckhurst are going to be forced to see Ugarte in the middle of the park once again.
