According to a report from L’Équipe, Saint-Étienne winger Mathieu Cafaro (27) could be set for a move to Ligue 2 side Paris FC in the final hours of the transfer window. Now pushed down the pecking order at right wing by Augustine Boakye and Irvin Cardona—who returned to ASSE on loan on January 28—Cafaro is looking for a way out as the transfer deadline looms.
Discussions between all parties are reportedly ongoing, with Saint-Étienne open to facilitating the permanent departure of a player they no longer rely on and who will be out of contract in June.
The Parisian club is keen to strengthen its squad to cement its position as Ligue 2 runners-up behind FC Lorient—a spot that guarantees automatic promotion to Ligue 1. Cafaro is no stranger to the second tier, can play on both flanks, and is match-ready, having featured alrady in 15 games for Les Verts this season.
