Ronald Araújo has undergone a successful operation by Dr. Lempainen on his right leg adductor injury, report Mundo Deportivo.
The centre-back walked off injured in Uruguay’s match against Iran. The player was debating whether to undergo surgery or not, in the end opting to enter the operating room.
Araújo will be sidelined for around three months, which means he will definitely not play for Barcelona before the World Cup. Nonetheless, Uruguayans haven’t lost hope that he can recover in time for the tournament in Qatar. If everything goes well, the 23-year-old may be able to make an appearance in Barcelona’s final match of the year against Espanyol.
Barcelona are currently facing an injury crisis as alongside Araújo, Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong, Jules Koundé and potentially Ousmane Dembélé as well all came back injured from international duty.
This morning it was communicated that Héctor Bellerín was injured during yesterday’s training session and he will be ruled out for three to four weeks.
