Roma set to sign Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic

Former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is now set to join Roma.

Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Roma have now closed the agreement which will see the Serbian midfielder arrive on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

Matic will sign a one-year deal with the Giallorossi but the club will have the option to extend the deal till the end of the 2023/24 campaign as well. Matic is said to have a special relationship with Jose Mourinho and he is set to be reunited with the Portuguese.

Matic played under Mourinho at Chelsea and the manager signed the midfielder when he joined Manchester United. He won the Premier League with Chelsea under the Portuguese.

The player has already announced that he will leave United in the summer, doing that well before the campaign ended. He was only a bit-part player this season and he is expected to be Roma’s first signing of the summer. The player’s entourage had previously offered his services to Roma.
