Roma are now set to make contact with former midfielder Daniele de Rossi as they seek a replacement for Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese has been sacked by the club with immediate effect and his staff will also leave the club, which is now 9th in the table and out of the Coppa Italia.
Sky Italia confirm that Roma see De Rossi as the replacement for Mourinho and they would to hire the former midfielder on an interim basis, at least. He is the chosen one for the role and the expectation is that the club will make contact with the 40-year-old soon and discuss about the type of agreement they want to reach, with the Friedkins keen.
De Rossi has had one stint as permanent manager, as he was in charge of SPAL in the 2022/23 season, but was sacked after a matter of months when the Serie B side were in 18th place in the table. He remains the club’s priority.
