Jose Mourinho will look to freshen up the Roma squad this summer, with the availability of Aaron Wan-Bissaka posing an alluring prospect for the Giallorossi.
According to Il Messaggero, AS Roma have been keeping tabs on Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The English full-back is reportedly considering leaving the Premier League side either on loan or on a permanent deal this summer.
The report understands that Roma will not redeem the services of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who joined the Stadio Olimpico faithful from Arsenal on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Since joining the club, the 24-year-old has made 12 appearances in all competitions. Despite given opportunities, the Englishman has failed to make the same impact as Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling, who are considered fan favourites in the Italian capital.
Signed from Crystal Palace in 2019, Wan-Bissaka is now regarded as surplus to Man United’s requirements. Other than Wan-Bissaka, Roma have been monitoring Mehmet Zeki Çelik and Marcos Senesi.
Fiorentina are also interested in Celik, who remains Tiago Pinto’s preferred option for the right-back position. Mourinho is determined to toughen the Roma defence that conceded 43 goals from 38 matches in the 2021/21 Serie A campaign.
