Roma boss Daniele de Rossi after Juventus draw: “Roma won’t have a big gap with the other big teams”

Roma boss Daniele de Rossi has revealed that the club could still very much challenge for the Serie A title this season.

Roma are yet to win a game in the league campaign, having picked up two points in three games. They were held to a 0-0 draw by Juve earlier today in what was a cagey affair in Turin.

The Giallorossi have scored only once in the entire season and goalscoring has been an issue, but De Rossi has revealed that the club can still challenge for the title this season.

The Italian told Sky Italia (via TMW): “It depends on what we mean in a short time. It was more in reference to the market, good players have been brought in and you can’t bring in 15 a year. Continuing like this, Roma won’t have a big gap with the other big teams.”

He was also asked about whether he can improve the side’s mentality and he looked at the fear from the current side.

“With Empoli, we did very well in their half for the first 10 minutes, then after the goal we got scared and it was the same today. We will have to work on our concepts, putting our readings in front of fear. In these moments we also need to analyze that in the 94th minute Shomurodov was pressing their goalkeeper. Our fear makes us suffer even more”.

Roma’s next two games are going to be tricky, as they take on Genoa and Udinese.
