After recently confirming Bayer Leverkusen’s intention to extend Jonathan Tah’s contract, the club’s managing director for sport, Simon Rolfes, gave an update on talks over a new deal for the centre-back on Wednesday evening.
“Our interest is there. Jonathan also knows that we would like to extend it,” Rolfes told Sky Germany after Leverkusen’s 4-0 DFB-Pokal semifinal win over Fortuna Düsseldorf.
“At this stage of the season he wants to concentrate on the games. The same goes for us. Then we will sit down together and try to find a good solution. I’m optimistic now,” he continued.
Tah’s contract expires in 2025.
