It was a depleted Real Madrid squad which travelled to Andalusia for their encounter with Cadiz after a number of injuries have impacted the squad, but you could never tell based on their performance.
The visitors secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Cadiz to spend Sunday night top of LaLiga until Girona play Athletic Club on Monday night.
That came courtesy of a brace from Rodrygo Goes, one either side of half-time, and another goal from Jude Bellingham.
Rodrygo’s magic
The first goal included a moment of magic from Rodrygo, whose confidence looked sky high, as the team launched a rapid counter-attack before spreading the ball to the Brazilian.
He cut inside, taking on four different Cadiz defenders, before firing a rocket of a shot into the top corner.
After the break, he doubled the team’s lead by adding the finishing touch to another counter started by Fede Valverde and Luka Modric in their own half.
With a drop of the shoulder, he took defenders out of the equation and then fired past Jeremias Ledesma again.
Bellingham’s strike
The third goal came from England international Jude Bellingham, assisted by Rodrygo, as his team-mate fed him in to add a powerful shot.
Bellingham converted to make it 14 goals in his first 15 Real Madrid appearances, a new club record, and to seal a 3-0 win.
The victory makes it 11 unbeaten in all competitions now for Carlo Ancelotti’s team, while Cadiz sit just two points above the drop zone.
