Eintracht Frankfurt captain Sebastian Rode expects to hang up his boots in the summer of 2024 at the latest.
When asked by Bild if he could imagine extending his contract, which expires in 2024, the 32-year-old replied:
“I would have to fall into a fountain of youth for that to happen. No, I’m currently assuming that I’ll retire by then.”
In the past years, Rode has struggled with his knee and, as at present, his back.
“The knee is actually doing quite well. I’ve done a lot for it. At the moment it’s my back that’s a bit sore because of the strain. That’s just the way it is, the body takes its toll. And I don’t want to walk with a stoop one day. I want to play with my children,” said Rode.
