Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi has handed in his resignation. Foot Mercato reports that the Italian has requested to be relieved of his duties following OM’s humiliating Champions League exit on Wednesday. Les Phocéens lost 3-0 to Club Brugge and were thrown out of the competition altogether as results didn’t go their way elsewhere.
Earlier today, RMC Sport reported that Roberto De Zerbi was facing the sack, given he didn’t oversee the team’s training session today at Clairefontaine, where Marseille are preparing for their away Ligue 1 game to Paris FC on Saturday.
Talks are said to be underway between all parties regarding whether or not De Zerbi’s resignation will be agreed upon. De Zerbi joined Marseille in 2024. His contract was due to expire in 2027.
