For the second game in a row, Giovanni Reyna came on to seal a late win for Borussia Dortmund, as ‘Die Schwarzgelben’ beat Mainz 2-1 at MEWA Arena tonight.
It was actually Mainz who drew first blood with an early goal from Lee Jae-Sung, who headed in after just two minutes.
But Dortmund newcomer Julian Ryerson was quick to level the scoreline for the visitors, putting the ball past Finn Dahmen via a deflection with four minutes played.
As the game progressed, it looked more and more like a draw until Reyna popped up out of nowhere to score a winner in injury time. Two second-half substitutes combined as Sebastien Haller flicked on a corner to the back post, where Reyna poked the ball into the net.
With the win, Dortmund climb to third place while Mainz sit 12th before tonight’s late games.
