After just missing out on this weekend’s away fixture at Freiburg, American attacker Giovanni Reyna should make his first BVB match-day squad of the 2023/24 cycle. North Rhine-Westphalia’s Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper reports that the 20-year-old is headed with the team to Paris for Dortmund’s Champions’ League debut. Presumably, the youngster will be available for some minutes off the bench.
Issues with his tibia have prevented Reyna the oft-injured Reyna from featuring in any bench squads this season. Despite his long history with multiple injuries, Reyna has managed to score 14 goals for his German club across all competitors since debuting as a 17-year-old in January of 2020. Reyna has not yet tallies in 16 BVB Champions’ League appearances.
